I am not in India right now but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy my favorite Indian dishes. just have to prepare them myself:-)

India 2008-2015

I am in Heaven…and so Blessed and Grateful

BUTTER/GARLIC/THYME NAAN BUTTER/GARLIC/THYME NAAN AND MASALA CHAI

I just finished eating this truly, amazing and delicious meal served with my own special Masala Chai.

You can see how delicious it is from the photos, but there is no way I can photograph the wonderful aroma still pervading my house from baking it.

The recipe is one of so many I have tried from one of my all time favorite blogs:  Peri’s Spice Ladle.  http://www.perisspiceladle.com/2014/03/14/garlic-and-thyme-naan-indian-bread/

Just some photos during preparation….really worth a try.

Finally getting around to posts and photos from my recent stay in India. enjoy!

India 2008-2015

Chandni Chowk and Spice Market

As promised, I will begin posting stories and photos (mainly) from my recent sojourn in India.  I found blogging to be a true intrusion this trip and did very little posting while actually there.  So I will now begin trying to catch up, for myself as well as for my followers.

Spice Market Spice Market

DSC04071
I blessed this year with an amazing first time adventure of experiencing, and exploring Delhi with local friends, rather than as a tourist, and it was a whole new experience for me.  I will begin this post with my first days in Delhi.
DSC04021
I explored places I’ve never beendto before, travelled on the Metro for the first time, saw some of the new wonderfully modern areas of Delhi as well as the traditional markets and local antiquity sites.  I hope you will enjoy the next few posts which will hopefully tell this…

Being special

HANUMAN2
Some of us are ancient souls reincarnated once again, some of us are angelic beings who have chosen to be here for a specific reason, Some of us are human beings doing our best to make sense of our life.

Whoever we are, we are SPECIAL!

SPECIAL MEAnd we have chosen to be here, in this place, in this life, at this time for a very special reason. Understanding that reason, knowing what our special purpose here is, is vital to living a full, healthy, and complete life.
How do we know what our purpose is ? How do we know what makes us special?

Make no mistake,

GOLDEN BABA

each and every one of its IS special in his own way.

We begin to understand what our purpose is when we begin to understand what gives us JOY. Think of the things which you enjoyed doing and which gave you pleasure as a child. They may have been things that were different than what the other kids enjoyed doing, and at some point you stopped “doing your own thing” to fit in with the crowd. Or it could be something which your parents frowned on and so you stopped doing it to gain their approval, and love. There are many reasons for us losing touch with our purpose, and the first step is getting back to that place, feeling what it is that you are passionate about.

DEFINE YOURSELF

How do we figure that out? We begin by asking questions…

How do we express our creativity?…this is part of our passion and part of what makes us special . Perhaps our passion is helping others in some way…perhaps by teaching them. But we can teach many different things in many different ways. And we can use our creative talents to teach. If we enjoy writing and photography, we can teach just about anything using our ability to write combined with our photography. Or perhaps we have a talent for music or art,  but have a passion for healing. We can combine these and become a dance or art therapist or heal through music. Or maybe we love animals but also have a passion to heal or be of service to people in some way. How about working with autistic children or adults using horses or dolphins to help heal. Perhaps we love the water…hydrotherapy.

There is no end to the ways in which we can reconnect with our passion, our creativity and our SPECIALNESS!

2013-12-17 16.55.55

The important thing here is to begin questioning ourselves, delving within, going back to the days of childhood pleasures and connecting with our passion and creative talents.  Putting them all together to create a “sweet spot” in our daily lives may not always be easy, but it is well worth the effort.

BE ORIGINAL COCO CHANEL

Be Unique…be Original…what makes you different is what makes you special!

Once we have discovered who we are, why we are here and what we are truly passionate about, what it is that makes us Special, and have found a way to combine that passion with our innate creative talents, we are on the way to living a satisfying, fulfilling, healthy, useful and very SPECIAL life.

And nothing will bring greater pleasure into each SPECIAL day.

And of course, remember to be grateful always for all the blessings that have been showered upon you to bring you to that wonderful SPECIAL “sweet spot”.  Don’t  forget to celebrate your uniqueness, your specialness, at every chance you get.

CELEBRATION

Celebration brings even more joy into your life, increasing your passion for what you are doing.  It is the final piece in the puzzle-

Gratitude and Celebration come hand in hand in insuring more of the same wonderful, full, special life you have created for yourself.

 CELEBRATION

Much love light and JOY

This is what I do when I miss being in India and am hungry at the same time. Look at photos of food I’ve eaten there!! Enjoy!

India 2008-2015

Chole Bhatura from Start to Finish

chole bhatura chole bhatura

Chole bhautra is an amazingly delicious treat prepared from chickpeas in a wonderfully spicey sauce and served together with Bhatura, a fried, puffed, light bread.

rolling the dough

It is a sinfully delicious Indian snack/meal and I was privileged to eat it during my stay this past year in Delhi with my dear friend Preeti and her lovely husband Sudeep.

It is a popular Punjabi dish but is now enjoyed all over India. I’ve posted a series of  photos of the entire process in case it interests you…watching the preparation and all the effort involved made me even more grateful for this wonderful meal!

…or…How to Stay Focused while Being Mindful Along the Way

Beauty Along the Way

Beauty Along the Way

It is good to have focus in life, to have goals and desires, to make plans and do what needs to be done to move things forward.  That is the only way God and the Universe can do their part to make things happen.

But sometimes, if we focus ONLY on our goals, we miss the opportunity to appreciate the most beautiful blessings sent us daily, things which are around us everywhere, right under our nose, just waiting to be noticed.

Just to give you two examples

Today, I went to the beach with my daughter and granddaughter, to enjoy a sunny day out of doors and just relax.

Stay Focused but Be Mindful

Stay Focused but Be Mindful

When we arrived, we could not park in the usual parking lot close to the entrance, and had to walk some distance to get down to the beach.  We could have complained about this, letting it spoil the fun of going to the beach, but instead, we walked slowly and patiently along, enjoying the breeze, talking etc., and taking time to look around and SEE and BE.  And we were rewarded with the beautiful works of art you see in the photos of the flowers.

flowers along the way

Our goal was to sit in the SUN and enjoy the beach but we found ourselves facing a sky full of clouds.  That certainly would seem to spoil our day if our only chance at enjoyment and pleasure was reaching our goal of sitting in the sun.  But instead, we appreciated the fact that we were not too hot and enjoyed the wonderful sky paintings the clouds made as they changed shape, color and direction.

Cloud Paintings

Just a couple of shots to give you an example.

Sun Trying to Break Through the Clouds

So remember, goals are wonderful things, as long as they do not take away from our being mindful of all the blessings along the way to that goal.

Sun Trying to Break Through the Clouds

Sun Trying to Break Through the Clouds

And if , upon reaching what we thought would be our destination, we find things to be different than we imagined, or planned, we must flow with the new situation and enjoy it to the fullest as well.

All things happen as they were meant to, at the time they were meant to, and in the way they were meant to, always for our Higher Good.

Our job is to be grateful for all, and to experience all things with acceptance, joy, gratitude, Faith and Freedom from Fear.

with Love Light and JOY

Jane
