The Ancient City of Acco (Acre)

Acco-Acre-Ancient Walled City

Even though I am “Not in India”, there are exciting and fascinating sites to see everywhere. I went on a guided tour of the Ancient city of Acco (Acre) this weekend, (I did not have the time to photograph the winding alleyways, souk, bazaar etc., – one of the drawbacks of being in a group – but the few things I did manage to shoot will give you some small idea of the sites and perhaps one day you will come visit yourself!! ) and it was much more interesting than I could have imagined, as well as beautiful to see these ancient walls and buildings still in use after so many centuries. The original history of Acco goes back 5000 years (!) but even the current remains of walls and buildings are centuries old. Hope you enjoy this tiny glimpse into the beauty of this intriguing city.

I originally posted this last year around this time, but it is perfect for this season right now with its ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, cleansing, Angels etc. Hope you will take the time to reread it. with love light and JOY

Not In India

A Time for Cleansing and Renewal

Brilliant blue skies, invigorating breeze whipping around your hair (for those who have it(!)), bird songs everywhere, the heady smell of orange blossoms, flowers and trees in bloom,  the hum of bees, renewed warmth and sunshine – these are all the wonderful blessings of  Spring in the Air.

After a very long, dreary, cold and rainy winter (which is of course a blessing in a country which never has enough water-but this doesn’t make the winter any easier to live through for those of us who don’t do well in cold and damp), these wonderful blessings of Spring are even more appreciated and welcome.

And when everything is renewing itself in Nature, we, as human beings also feel the need for renewal, hence the common practice all over the world of “spring cleaning”.   This does not have to end with the physical cleaning of…

Even a walk to the supermarket can be a blessing if we just remember to be mindful of all that surrounds us.

Most people just walk by without seeing, and found them staring at me when I stopped to take these photos, as if I was doing something strange by noticing the flowers.

We are always surrounded by beauty…if we just look for it.

Such an important reminder for all of us, I had to share this post with you!

Cauldrons and Cupcakes

“Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better to take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.”

~ Carl Jung

Yesterday someone well known in American ‘New Age’ circles told me something that I found quite preposterous.  In fact, I found it a little dangerous…

They said that if I was ‘truly enlightened’ and ‘living from my heart’ I would be 100% positive and happy all the time. From that place of 100% positivity I would heal, but if I still had even one ‘negative’ thought, felt one shred of sadness, or doubt, or depression, then I was destined to remain sick, miserable and ‘enmeshed in my pain body’.

Really? I’m sorry, that just doesn’t wash with me.  With my thinking I am 100% responsible for my…

My Happy Smiling Garden

Smiling Flowers
I have a very small “garden”…just some boxes along a ledge in my backyard, but every time I look at it, it brings smiles of joy to my face, and I feel as if the flowers are smiling back at me. !! 🙂
