“An Army Moves on its Stomach” (Napoleon)- I guess a Tourist Does the Same!!

This is going to be quite a silly post, but just had to get these photos to you.  I spent the better part of my three week family visit eating!  Seems like it was the ONLY thing I did, but that of course is not true.  You might even remember some of the beautiful photos from my recent travels  in this post: Joys of the Journey-Scenes from a Car Window.

But back to food.  Some of the photos are self explanatory-others will have a comment or two, but basically this is just for fun.  Enjoy! I am leaving the Vegan Philadelphia for the end, because that is when I ate most of it, at the end of my travels, but take the time to look at the photos.  I can’t even tell you what most of the vegan meals are made of, but not only do they look scrumptious, they WERE!

Hot Pastrami on Rye

Two people ate this, and we still had enough to take home and make pastrami and eggs for breakfast a couple of days later!

Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes

Eggplant Parmesan, Pizza and Garlic Bread

Breakfast of Spinach / Feta Omelette, English Muffin and Hash Browns – and not to forget the delicious Diner Coffee!

Tofu, Veggies and Fried Rice at Japanese Restaurant

Waffles for Breakfast

The Three Dishes below, each an appetizer, were ordered by three people together, and we weren’t able to finish it all between the three of us!!

Brushetta

Eggrolls or Mozarella Sticks-Not Sure-Don’t Remember

Spinach Artichoke Creamy Thing with Nachos

The table when we finished eating!

Pasta Primavera

THE BEST Lasagna in the World!

It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good that I used my bread to clean every drop of food off the plate!!

Superb Cheese cake

THE BEST Tiramisu I’ve Ever Eaten

Chicken Soup with Humongous Matzo Ball

Potato Knish with Sour Cream and Apple Sauce

Not to Forget the French Fries and Dr. Brown’s Root Beer

And now, after all of the above, on to  healthy, but brilliantly delicious VEGAN food!

Seitan Steak

Vegan Wrap

Vegan Entree

Hoummus

Something Vegan Delicious

and yet another delicious vegan dish

…and another empty plate

Vegan Dessert

…more Vegan Dessert

…and more Vegan Desserts

This was a sinful “cheesecake” with brownies on top.  Two cakes in one.  Can’t imagine that this was particularly healthy for me, but it was vegan and sublimely delicious.  And I had one slice of this, which lasted me for three days!!

My three day dessert!

And finally…Vegan Pizza.  Including pepperoni- and proof that it is truly vegan-no cheese-no meat-is this photo of my Vegan brother, who also eats only Kosher food, eating it!!

Kosher Vegan Eating Pepperoni Pizza

Vegan Pepperoni Pizza

Vegan Veggie Pizza

And now, I’ve just got to go cook something to eat!!!!   😀

Just a quick post to let you know I’ve arrived home and doing my best to get past really bad jet lag this time.
After eating my way through New Jersey and Philadelphia for 3 weeks,(photo post to follow shortly) it’s nice to get back home and to the simple comforts of home cooking.

Beginning with a wonderful, freshly juiced glass of Celery Apple Juice– A delicious, nutritious and thirst quenching drink.

Drinking it while preparing my fresh, organic veggies to steam seasoned with coriander, cumin and turmeric.

Eating them together with garlic-ginger basmati rice prepared with pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and almonds, seasoned with turmeric.  A lovely and satisfy meal, home cooked with love.  Simple but wonderful blessings!

Living Joyfully and Mindfully

Don’t be so focused on getting to the destination that you miss out on the wonders of the journey itself!

Most people live their lives waiting for “when”.  When I grow up, when I finish school, when I get a good job, when I meet the right person, when I buy the right home, when I am secure enough to have kids, when the kids grow up, when I get the promotion, when I retire….and before you know it life is over. But what about the entire journey?  Where did it all go?  How did it all get away from me so quickly?

What they are sadly forgetting, is that the JOURNEY itself IS LIFE!  And each and every moment, each and every day along the way is all there is!  Each and every moment much be lived fully, joyfully and Mindfully.  That is all there is.

The DESTINATION is NOT life.  Getting there is.

I wrote a post many years ago about taking a walk in the  forests of the Himalayas with a group of friends vs. taking the same kind of walk alone…it describes the same kind of focus on the destination resulting in loosing out on the pleasures, wonders and beauty along the way. It is one of my very favorite posts, and I have not been able to track down the link to it!  If I find it, I will repost it here as well.

I have been visiting with relatives in the States for the past couple of weeks, and America being the large country it is (especially in comparison with my home  in Israel which is the size of the state of New Jersey!!), I found myself spending many hours riding in a car to get to the things I had planned to do each day.  And the joys of those hours in the car were no less wonderful than the actual thing I had planned to do “once I got there”.  In many ways, the journeys each day were the best part of my time here.

And so, the scenes from a car window you see in this post, and in the slideshow, were all taken in while driving through rural New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Enjoy your own journey each and every moment of each and every day.

There is nothing more precious than the JOYS OF THE JOURNEY

The More You Give the More You Get!

The Casino

The Casino

I have written in the past, both on this blog and on my Mindfulness Journal, about Manifesting Dreams and Creating a New Reality.  Much of what we talk about, and read about these days deals with the Laws of Attraction and attracting what we want into our lives. There are some very basic techniques about how to go about doing this. You can find innumerable posts, articles, videos, books, lectures, workshops etc. regarding this whole “business”.

But one thing which is very often overlooked, or not given enough attention, is the simple idea that “like attracts like” – meaning, if you live in a mode of want, if you worry about what you don’t have, and worry about what you do have but might not have tomorrow….if you count your pennies because you are afraid you may not have enough tomorrow, if you live “frugally” to insure your having enough “when”….then you are actually defeating the purpose. The more you live in fear of not having, the more you save for a rainy day, the more you count each penny you spend, the more you are “careful” with what you have,  the more you will attract more of the same into your life.  You will always be afraid and probably for the reason that you don’t have enough, you will never have enough for a rainy day, you will continue counting pennies because you will never have more than pennies to count, and you will never have “more”, rather you will continue to have ‘less”.

The story below is an example of how giving freely, even if you don’t have “enough”, of giving lovingly and without fear of “not having” what you need if you’ve given to someone else, of sharing what you have with a full heart, attracts even more into your life.  People who live like this, even if it seems as if they have very little, will ALWAYS have what they need, whenever they need it.  I can tell you this from personal experience as well.  Once I got out of the “fear” mode and moved into the “free” mode, once I began giving lovingly, to others and myself, whenever I felt like it or needed to, I began experiencing all kinds of unexpected surprises of money finding its way into my life, free vacations coming my way, strange “coincidences” and of course no longer having to worry that I don’t have, or will not have, enough.

I recently posted the following on my Facebook page:

On my way to the train station and in the blink of an eye my travel plans have changed. As always, God and the Universe are looking out for me, and I have been sent an Amtrak ticket by an angel named M. so that I don’t have to travel by local commuter train where I would save $60 or more but would have to change trains, (I am carrying all my luggage) ,wait for trains and spend more than 2 hours riding what is less than a 1 hour actual trip. I am truly blessed! 😀

The angel was my cousin who I was going to visit and she lovingly paid for my Amtrak ticket, round trip, and did so with joy and happiness.  Two days ago, she took me “just for fun” to a casino near her home.  I just played out the $5 I was given as an incentive by the casino, and when I finished, she took over the machine I was playing,  After a couple of minutes of play, SHE WON $1000!!!!.  And that is how it works!
